KHS '71 Scholarship Update

July 20, 2021

Dear Classmates,

We want to share with you the recent news about our Class of 1971 KHS Scholarship. Since our inception in 2014, we have given away 8 scholarships to exemplary students which equal $4,000. This past year was our last year to give the KHS Class of 1971 Roger J. Murphy Scholarship out to a deserving KHS student. Roger was so generous in donating $2,500 which lasted 5 years and benefitted 5 students. This year, an anonymous donor has stepped forward and given our class a donation of money which will again help us to give $500 each year for 5 years to 5 more students of KHS. The donor requested this scholarship be given out in honor of Ellen Konides Abbott, who passed away suddenly on February 21, 2021. For those of you who knew Ellen, she would be so humbled to know her name will represent our scholarship for the next 5 years. Ellen loved KHS. She participated in many of the activities our school had to offer and made her 4 years at KHS memorable for her and those who knew her.  Sue Hildreth Silver has notified the Abbott family about the scholarship. They are thrilled to have her memory live on in this scholarship. Ellen would be so pleased to be able to help a KHS student capture their future dreams. The name for the scholarship will be KHS Class of 1971 Ellen Konides Abbott Scholarship.  Thank you for your continued support in making a small difference in a fellow graduate of KHS.

Ellen's obituary on the website of DiLuzio Foley And Fletcher Funeral Homes contains a Tribute Movie under her photo.  Here is the link to that website so you can view it:  https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/keene-nh/ellen-abbott-10069606
